Back 40

Jason  Ballard
Lead singer/acoustic

My dad bought me a guitar when i was in 2nd grade and i can remember taking it to music class and singing "Johnny Be Goode"(Ha i only knew like 3 chords)  I seriously started playing and singing about 8 yrs ago. In college, I would play for smaller crowds whether it be sitting around a fire in college or on the tail gate of a pick up truck in the middle of a field, we always had a blast.   After college, I really started playing a lot by myself and after a year or  so the whole band thing kept popping in my head.  So, I finally got a couple guys to start  playing along with me and it blew up from there.  They were just as hungry as I was for playing music.  Since we've started at the beginning of 06' we've played close to 300 shows.

Maddie and Brewer

Renee and her 2 kids were so lucky to be able to go on a trip a couple months back to Pensecola FL and stay for nearly a week.. I had to work and sing so i couldn't go. I wanted to share with ya'll 2 children that  will always be a HUGE part of my life. This is Maddie and Brewer on the beach posing for the camera. "future band members" ha Maddie likes making up songs, dancing and singing. Brewer loves beating on just about anything pretending there drums. he has very good rythm to be so young. They both are loving the new Kid Rock song "All Summer Long" and to be 3 Brewer knows and can sing every word of it.

p.s.    their sweetness comes from me..

I'm miss them now that i don't get see them anymore!!!

Jake!

Delta Magazine

Hey we got a small mention in Delta Magazine.. a friend of mine just sent it to me.. Thats cool..
Go Delta Magazine..

Its talking about some guy that grew up in the area playin music at the 308 club in Indianola.

"Durham often performs at 308 Blues Club, which provides a great atmosphere for soaking in the best of the Delta sound. Host to performances by well-known artists Bill Abel, The Bailey Brothers, Daddy Rich and The Back 40 Band, among others, the darkness of the club, with its scattered tables and chairs, allows visitors to sit catatonic as gritty rhythms burst forth from the stage. A full-service bar, christened the club’s “Well of Perfection,” serves up cocktails, beer and other beverages. "

Destin

we went to Destin this weekend to play for  a wedding. we left thursday at 6:30 pm that afternoon and finally got to Destin about 4:00 am Friday morning.  It was fun though. we played the rehearsal dinner that night which was fun. it was right on the beach over looking the water. Our condo was freakin awesome. it was 3 stories. we had a jacuzzi in our room. the condo just like ours next door was for sale for like 475,000 if that tells you anything. ha Saturday was the wedding and it was nice too. right on the beach. literally. tux's and barefooted was the style. ha John andy went and sat in with some band at a bar later that night and they didn't want him to sit down. they were amazed. Even the owner came and asked.. "if you're this good how's the rest of your band"? ha anyways had fun. ready to go back
